Prior to the start of reforms in the ‘90s, my relatives in India always used to bemoan population as the key problem holding India back (well, population and corruption). People don’t talk so much about population anymore.
It’s interesting that there hasn’t been a serious push (yet) by climate change action advocates to reduce world population. Maybe this is progress… or maybe it’s just easier and more fun to make people feel guilty about spending than about sex.

I wonder to what extent the Greens are ‘wedged’ on this issue. On the one hand they complain that Australia’s environment cannot support a larger population, yet they apparently don’t want any restrictions on the number of asylum seekers.
